Close finishes were the order of the day at Lisangle - 5th June 2016.

The Lisangle track has a habit of producing some of the closest finishes on the West Cork circuit and today was no different with the photo finish camera earning overtime at the Bank holiday fixture.

Three crossed the line in the Grade D E & F Pace. From the very start this was run at break neck pace with Hell Boy and Ringo Lady battled for pole position. All the while Micheal O' Donovan on Mr Security and Chris O' Reilly on Lyons Stallone stood in the wings waiting for the pace setters to falter. Turning for home it was impossible to call the winner but eventually Ringo Lady with Timmy O' Reilly in the bike got that extra inch to see off his brother Chris on Lyons Stallone and Mr Security.

The battle for supremacy in the top grade pace now reads 1 - 1. 2015 Horse of The Year Cruise Howard returned to winning ways but not without a battle from last weeks winner Rhyds Destiny. Timmy O' Leary on the winner was an early leader and held that position all through the the race.

Veteran driver John Boyle recorded a double on the day, Newcomer Armoured Bear won the opening nine runner Maiden. Brywins Starship led early doors but Boyle produced this son of Lyons Joseph with two furlongs to pace and looks one with a bright future.

Supreme Sunshine completed the double for the popular Mallow owner trainer driver. This versatile mare has always been a model of consistency and added another win to her CV today.

The top class saddle race saw Shelley Brickley on Ringo Star and Luke Kelleher on Meadowbrach Demon go head to head and eventually Ringo Star (a full brother of earlier winner Ringo Lady) prevailed.

In the low grade saddle race Myross Son and Sean Twomey were never in danger of defeat.

Patrick Hill gave french trotter an inspired drive in the low grade Trot. This one has been unlucky not to have won both of his seasonal starts but looked a winner at all time today.

Socrate Du Noyer took the top grade trot with Finbarr Brickley doing the steering. This imposing type saw off Rocky Atout and Silvano Bello with a little bit left in the locker.

All roads lead to Dundalk Stadium next weekend for the first meeting of the year at the Tapeta surface in County Louth.
