Meeting 2 - Dunmanway Harness Racing Report - Monday 7th June 2021.

Sean Kane from The Naul in Co Meath took the driving honours at Dunmanway on the Bank Holiday Monday steering no fewer than four winners all of which are trained at the track by Jeremiah O' Mahony assisted by his sons John and Dan.

The ball was set rolling in the first race of the day where Highland Princess who ran well in defeat last week went one better today in an easy victory over her sole rival Hurricane Hannah in the four-year-old trot. The winner is owned in partnership by Shane Crowley and the winning trainer.

The combination of Kane and O Mahony were again in the winner's circle in the next a Grade G Pace. IB Flo Jo was all the rage in the betting but Anglesey Fasttrack who was erratic on his debut in Cork on grass last week put in a foot perfect performance today and was always in control easing to a 3-length victory. The winner is owned by John & Dan O' Mahony.

Kane didnt waste any time notching up the third win in the next a Grade F Trot. Bella Despana and Banderillo Piya both led for a lap but Kane produced Dinah Washington with three furlongs to trot and held off the fast-finishing Brutenor by a 1/4 length and gave the Crowley / O Mahony duo another win.

The final leg of the Kane four timer came in the Grade E D & C trot. This time Kane sent Devoument Absolu to front from the start and was not for catching eventually having a length and a half in hand on Vallanzana.

"I'm delighted with the day four drives and four winners and it's not too often it happens so we enjoy the night" Sean Kane added.

18-year-old Cian O Reilly will long remember the day as he drove his first winner under rules on Brywins Magician in the concluding race of the day a Grade F Pace. Two Left Feet and IB Felicity exchanged early blows with the former leading out on the final circuit. The "Cavalry" was gathering in behind with On Top Big C and Resolute Diamond joining issue. But O' Reilly had all moves covered and swooped the field on the back straight and had 1 and half lengths to spare over On Top Big C at the finish.

"My Dad Sean has only one horse in training so I don't get many opportunities to drive" Cian told the press briefing but i'm sure people noticed his undoubted talent and looks a bright prospect if given a chance.

Meadowbranch Romance so often the bridesmaid finally got her day in the sun in the Grade G & G1 Pace. Derry McCarthy was not hanging around on the winner and used front running tactics and were never in danger of defeat holding on from last week's winner Tommys Girl.

There was drama aplenty in the Grade F & E Pace. Indie Hanover led early doors put went off stride American Rebel took over and led out the final lap. Awesome Dude joined the leader and led turning for home but went off stride handing the initiative back to American Rebel who held on from the fast-finishing Hail Spartacus.

Supreme Sunshine followed up on last week's win for John Boyle with another victory in the Grade D C B & A Pace. Llywns Delight a long odds-on favourite never landed a blow eventually pulling up. Up front Supreme Sunshine and Brywins Star Ship were engaged in battle with Teddy Camden also in the mix. Turning for home Supreme Sunshine got the upper hand and Teddy Camden only saw daylight in the final 50 yards and couldn't peg back the winner.
