Meeting 6 - Lissangle Caheragh Harness Racing Report - Saturday 3rd July 2021.

Leap based driver Patrick Hill took the driving honors when landing two winners at the Lisangle Harness races on Saturday Writes Tim Kelleher.

Hill the retained driver for Hillside Farms used completely different driving tactics on each winner.

Coming in for “The Catch drive” on American Rebel Hill sent this son of Rogue Hall to the front from the start and established a five length advantage after the opening circuit. Ayr Majesty and Supreme Sunshine set off in chase of the leader on the second lap.

Heading out on the final lap American Rebel was still three lengths to the good with Brywins Starship the nearest challenger .Turning for home American Rebel found another gear and stayed on to win by 2 and a half lengths.
The winner is trained by John Shanahan for his London based brother Denis.

Brutenor has been a “Cash Cow” for Hillside Farms since his arrival to the Leap Stud a few years ago and continues to prosper. In this Vallanzana and Devoument Absolu were the early pace setters and were joined by Carat Bay on the second lap. Hill was content to wait in the wings with Brutenor and on the final lap made his move and hit the front with a furlong to trot and eased to a three length winning margin from Vallanzana.

“He has been a great servant to us and winning the Red John Memorial was probably the highlight and retains all his abilities” Hill quoted of the ten year old Brutenor.

Pan Cam Income has been on a crest of a wave since joining John Moloney in the Spring and this son of Earned Income made it three wins from four starts for Co Clare based Moloney in The Grade F Pace.
IB Felicity and the winner locked horns early in the race with Pan Cam Income getting the upper hand after a circuit. The order remained the same on the second lap and at the bell Share A Smile emerged from the pack to challenge the leader but Willie McInerney and Pan Cam Income were not for catching and were three length winners from the late finishing IB Paddington with Share a Smile third.

Highland Princess a talented four year old was in the open handicap with the aged horses today and again was not overawed by the task making every post a winner from Destin De Larre. The winner is jointly owned by Driver Sean Kane (who has been hoovering up winners on his visits from The Naul in Co Dublin to West Cork) and trainer Jeremiah O' Mahony. No doubt she will be a major force in the four year old championship trot races.

Rhyds Panache with Chris O Reilly in the bike opened his account for the 2021 season when landing the finale a grade G & F Pace sending punters home on a winning note.
Two Left Feet and Meadowbranch Romance were early leaders after Darkhill John J went off stride after the start.

For two and a half laps it seemed as if the two in front might have stole a march on the race favorite but Chris O' Reilly was “sitting in the armchair” and produced Rhyds pancahe on the run to the line to win going away.

“He was ready to run a few weeks ago but had a few niggling issues which seem to be behind us now and at 12 years of age is enjoying his racing and you never know we might have another crack at The Red John Memorial at Lyre in August” O' Reilly told the press post racing.
