Meeting 10 - Dunmanway Harness Racing Report - Monday 2nd August 2021.

The rich vein of form that driver Luke Kelleher has being enjoying of late continued in Dunmanway on Sunday where he drove three winners on the Bank Holiday Monday card Writes Tim Kelleher.

Kelleher teamed up with John Healy and TJ O' Farrell to take the three-Year-Old trot and bag his third winner on Inspire Me who has improved on her previous starts and put in a flawless round of trotting and was far too good for her two rivals.
"She is only a baby and is learning every day. She has plenty of talent and we keep her going for another few races" John Healy joint owner said.

He has forged a formidable partnership with trainer John Shanahan from Leap who provided two of the three winners. American Rebel a winner on his three previous starts was easy in betting in the top-grade pace with Teddy Camden installed as favourite in the betting. Ayr Majesty made the running at a break neck pace. American Rebel was content to follow the leader with Brywins Star Ship behind. On the final lap as the leader-tired Kelleher was only waiting on American Rebel and eased to the front and ran out a length and a half winner from Brywins Star Ship with Teddy Camden a further length back in third.

Resolute Diamond enhanced his growing reputation as one of the best four-year-old pacers in the country when taking the Grade F & E pace. Rock Show who has bundles of talent but at times erratic was the pace setter this time and was having one of his better days bounding along in front. On the final lap he was still in front but Hail Spartacus and Resolute Diamond were waiting in the wings and Kelleher produced Resolute Diamond and the winning margin of three quarters of a length looked flattering to his rivals Hail Spartacus in second and Rhyds Panache who ran on late for third.

Resolute Diamond and American Rebel are both owned by Leap native Denis Shanahan who is based in London where he runs a Construction business. "Denis was going to justify was on the phone for both races and as is looking forward to making it home for The Red John Memorial Weekend later in the month. Resolute Diamond will go in the Four-Year-Old Grass Derby and American Rebel will run in the Red John Memorial Pace and both will have a big say in both. We are neighbours of Red Johns family and it's the meeting everyone wants to win at" winning trainer John Shanahan told the press after racing.

Another young driver Eoin Murphy showed maturity away beyond his 17 years winning the Top-Grade trot on Vallanzana for owners Wallace & Griffin from Dublin and Kenmare based trainer Finbarr Quill. It looked as if stable companion of the winner Beach De Belloeut was going to justify good market support but Murphy was waiting patiently on the rail and when the gap opened Vallanzana took the opportunity and got up on the line to win by half a length.

John Boyle may be 76 years old but the Doneraile man still has plenty enthusiasm and was a popular winner on IB Felicity in the Grade F Pace. Boyle has a no-nonsense style of driving go to the front and catch me if you can and those tactics were employed again and the pair never saw another horse winning easy.

Paul McInerney from Co Clare who travels with Boyle to Cork on race days got an overdue success on Right Of Redemption in the Grade G & G1 Pace. The pair hit the front in the final 200 yards and ran on to a three-length win from Greentree Euphoria.

There's an old saying "Horses For Courses" and Dinah Washington who is trained at the track by Jeremiah O' Mahony who he jointly owns with Shane Crowley knows every blade of grass at the venue and Sean Kane travelled down from The Naul in Dublin combined with Dinah Washington to beat Banderillo Piya by a length.
